Puck Stone Statue
Puck, the star of Shakespeares A Midsummer Nights Dream
Also called Robin Goodfellow, the vivacious fairy henchman for Oberon, he was notorious for his mischievous deeds, witty and fanciful comments that serve to guide the play and its outrageous action
Statues of Puck became increasingly popular in the 19th century after artist Harriet Hosner created her famous marble depiction of Puck and presented it to Albert Edward, Prince of Wales who instantly fell in love with it
Our reconstituted stone representation of Puck is in the classic cross legged seated position with that slightly cheeky grin on his face, it’s extremely well produced with intricate hands, feet and locks of hair.
Beautiful natural weathering is consistent throughout the piece which sits on an antique stone plinth. Created circa Early 20th Century
The circular base is inscribed with a quote from the play ‘I’ll put a girdle round about the earth in forty minutes’
